He appeared in Marooned (1933) Tiger Bay (1934) and Mademoiselle Josette, ma Femme (1933) .\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHis films – some of which were made by the British Lion Film Corporation – often had the theme of a young Englishman abroad, getting into romantic scrapes and battling racketeers.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e Perhaps this prompted Victor Garland – he shortened his name – to open the nightclub Club Havana on the Rue del la Liberte in Nice, France.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe bar and restaurant became a stopping point for Americans and Brits on the French Riviera. Food doesn’t seem to have been the priority here – among the dishes that were served was ham and eggs.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSo we're guessing this place was famous for its live music, dancing and booze.
