But two years later it reopened with an ingenious igloo design created by architect Ronn Ginn using high-strength, low-weight concrete. A marvel of modern architecture, the 250-foot-long dome held up by steel ribs atop pilings 16 feet off the sand, was designed without corners or seams so hurricane winds had nothing to latch onto.
