The Greek God infested the ship with phantoms of creeping vines and wild beasts and the terrified sailors leapt overboard and were transformed into dolphins.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDionysus married princess Ariadne of Crete whom he discovered abandoned by Thesus, son of the founder of Athens, according to mythology. He found her sleeping by the sea and fell in love.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis beautiful menu cover depicting the story was depicted on a tapestry in the Club Ariadne aboard the steamship Ariadne in the 1970s.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe SS Ariadne went into service in 1957. In 1960, she was purchased by the Miami-based Eastern Shipping Corporation.
