Its motto was Every Hour…Cocktail hour. But this menu cover also tried to lure customers away from cocktails towards wine.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"font-weight: 400;\"\u003e ‘The drinking of wine … is a most enjoyable custom. wine is the most healthful and hygienic of beverages,’ the menu says.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"font-weight: 400;\"\u003eAt the time, of course, wine was more expensive for the ordinary man and woman than spirits and beer.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"font-weight: 400;\"\u003eThe Hotel Philadelphian was located at 39\u003csup\u003eth\u003c\/sup\u003e\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003eand Chestnut Street in the lovely city of Philadelphia.
