We found a Facebook comment from someone who remembers going there as a child. She used one word to describe the pool during a typical British summer – ‘FREEZING! ‘\u003cbr\u003eThere was a bowling green and other leisure facilities but sailing, canoeing, kayaking and surfing were the most popular sports practiced in this beautiful region of England.\u003cbr\u003eDuring the Second World War the club was closed and housed prisoners of war.\u003cbr\u003eFamilies returned to spend holidays at the camp in the 50s. This menu from the on-site dining room is dated 1954.\u003cbr\u003eThe DCCC was bought by Ladbroke’s Holidays in the 1970s.
